Man remains in critical condition after tree fell on vehicle

GRAND RAPIDS — Nick Lober, who was injured after a large branch fell on his vehicle Friday, is listed in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon, according to administration at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Lober was traveling northbound on Lincoln Lake Road just south of 14 Mile Road in Oakfield Township when a tree branch fell onto his black Toyota Tundra just before 5 p.m. Friday.

“A large branch fell from the tree,” Kent County Deputy Ron Kimbrough said. “He took most of the impact through his windshield.”

Lober was the lone occupant in the vehicle.

He was transported by ambulance from the scene of the accident to the Greenville Municipal Airport and airlifted to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids by AeroMed.
