Soccer

Grant 5, Lakeview 3: The Wildcats were losers to the Tigers on the pitch Thursday despite goals from Matt Hill, Caleb Ruvalcaba and Nate Shorlow. Lakeview goalkeeper Lucas Sweet was busy again, having a second straight game of double digit saves. He made 15 this time, making 19 against Newaygo Tuesday. Quote: “We were dealing with some injuries. We were down two starters and lost one during the game.” — Lakeview coach Chris Smith. Record: 3-8. Next game: at home against Big Rapids Tuesday.

Northview 2, Greenville 0: The Yellow Jackets were shut out by the Wildcats in an O-K Bronze Conference game Thursday night. Goalkeeper Kyle Smith had 10 saves on the night. Next game: at home Tuesday against Cedar Springs.

Tennis

Greenville 6, Cedar Springs 2: The Yellow Jackets won three singles matches and three doubles matches en route to an O-K Bronze Conference win against the Red Hawks Thursday. Singles wins were scored by Brandon Brom, A.J. Ebels and Marius Elbs. Next meet: at Sparta Saturday.

Volleyball

Greenville 3, Northview 1: The Yellow Jackets evened their O-K Bronze Conference record with a win over the Wildcats Thursday night. Leah Somerfield and Rosalyn Wyse led Greenville with 12 kills each. Somerfield and Nikota Howe had two blocks each, Audrey Wyse added three aces and Kylee Moody had 22 digs. Records: 21-3 and 1-1. Next match: at home against Cedar Springs Wednesday.

Football

Byron Center JV 28, Greenville 12: The JV Yellow Jackets lost their second straight game Thursday, getting touchdowns only from Kyle Swindell in the loss. His touchdowns were runs of 45 and 70 yards. Quote: “I was proud of the guys. We gave up a touchdown with two minutes to go that iced it.” — Greenville coach Tom Hallock. Record: 2-2. Next game: at home against Cedar Springs next Thursday.
