ALPINE TOWNSHIP — A Trufant man died in a motorcycle accident last Friday morning in Alpine Township.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on 7 Mile Road NW near Comstock Park Drive NW around 11:25 a.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Darrell Eugene Proctor, 43, of Trufant, was on his motorcycle traveling eastbound on 7 Mile Road when a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Jim Rhyne Twork, 36, of Rockford, moved from the westbound lane into the eastbound lane. Proctor apparently swerved to avoid the vehicle and crashed.

Proctor was wearing a motorcycle helmet. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident. The Alpine Township Fire Department and Life Ambulance assisted at the scene.

A funeral for Proctor took place Tuesday at Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville.

Proctor is survived by his wife, Kelly, sons, Brandon Morgan and Travis Proctor, and parents, Harold and Sharon Proctor, all of Trufant, along with numerous other relatives.
