Armed robber hits Belding convenience store

BELDING — A man dressed in military style digital camouflage is being sought in connection with an armed robbery that took place at 10:04 p.m. Thursday at the Belding C Store Marathon Station, 1002 S. Bridge St.

According to Chief Dale Nelson of the Belding Police Department, the suspect entered the store and demanded money from the cash register after showing the clerk a pistol. No shots were fired.

The suspect left the scene on foot with a small amount of money.

Deputies from the Ionia County Sheriff Department assisted Belding Police at the scene, which was secured before a tracking dog from the sheriff department was brought in.

The incident remains under investigation.
