GREENVILLE — With the new location of the football field, the Greenville High School homecoming parade will have a different route this year.
In the past, students paraded through downtown, south on M-91 to Black Field for the football game. With the location of the new Legacy Field at the high school, students had to come up with a different plan for the parade, which is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28.
Parade staging will be at Veterans Park at 5:15 p.m. with students marching on Cass Street west to Hillcrest Street and then north to Blackburn Street toward Legacy Field.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m.
“The students will have a police escort,” said City Manager George Bosanic.
The streets will not be shut down and students, along with floats, will have to fit within the one lane of traffic so oncoming traffic can still fit by, Bosanic said.
The Greenville City Council approved the new parade route at Tuesday’s meeting.
