FHE 3, Greevnville 0: The Yellow Jackets battled with O-K Bronze leader Forest Hills Eastern on Thursday, but could not come up with the win. Leading 24-20 in the first set, Eastern came back to win 31-29. Eastern won a tight second set 25-22, before cruising in the third set 25-15. Fremont Providence Christian 2, Lakeview 1: The Wildcats opened the game with a goal from Caleb Ruvalcaba but Providence Christian tied the game halfway through the first half, then scored again to open the second half and got the win Thursday. Lucas Sweet was Lakeview’s goalkeeper and made 11 saves. Record: 3-10. Next game: at Tri County today.
Greenville 7, GR Creston 1: The only loss for the Yellow Jackets in Thursday’s meet with the Polar Bears was in No. 2 singles. Singles winners for Greenville were Brendan Brom, A.J. Ebels and Marius Elbs. Next match: at Big Rapids for a quadrangular Monday.
Greenville second at conference meet: The Yellow Jackets finished just five strokes behind Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern Thursday at Cedar Chase Golf Course, shooting a 183 to 178 for the Hawks. Third was Forest Hills Northern with a 187. Greenville got a 35 from Britta Bernth, which was medalist for the meet. Lauryn Day added a 47, Jessica Bohner shot 50 and Karli Didion added a 51. Next match: at Kalamazoo Valley Country Club for the Michigan Classic.
Belding fifth again: The Redskins finished fifth in the O-K Blue Conference jamboree hosted by Sparta Thursday, carding a team score of 208. That was well behind winner Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian’s 158. Belding’s scorers were Tayler Reeves with a 46, Alyviah Mason with a 53, Jordan Conroe with a 54 and Haylee Batzer with a 55. Next match: at the O-K Blue jamboree at Grandville Calvin Christian Tuesday.
Greenville JV 50, Cedar Springs JV 6: The JV Yellow Jackets got four touchdowns from Kyle Swindell, with three of those being runs of over 50 yards in a mercy of the JV Red Hawks Thursday at Legacy Field. Kolton Dunham, Dan Nowicki and Cody DeVries also scored touchdowns for the Jackets, with DeVries getting his on an interception return. Record: 3-2. Next game: at Grand Rapids Northview next Thursday.
