GREENVILLE — The Greenville Department of Public Safety will have a Child Safety Seat Installation Day to help properly install child restraint seats.

From 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, the Greenville Department of Public Safety will be hosting certified technicians to check the installation of the safety seats and ensure they have been installed correctly.

If the seats are not installed properly, the technicians will reinstall them.

“A recent study conducted by the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning revealed that 97 percent of child restraint seats are improperly installed,” said Greenville Department of Public Safety Director Michael Pousak in a press release.

Anyone is welcome to attend the free event at the Greenville Department of Public Safety located at 415 S. Lafayette St. They must come prepared with a child safety seat, owner’s manual if possible, the vehicle the seat needs to be installed in and the child using the seat.

“A properly installed child safety seat gives your child the best chance of survival in the event of a motor vehicle accident,” Pousak said.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to call (616) 754-9161.
