SHERIDAN — A candidate forum is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sheridan VFW Post, according to VFW Post 5065 Legislative Chairman Eric Halvorsen.
Candidates for 70th District state representative — incumbent Rick Outman, R-Six Lakes, and Mike Huckleberry, D-Greenville — have accepted invitations to attend.
A representative for 4th District Congressman Dave Camp, R-Midland will be in attendance, as will Camp’s Democratic opponent, Debra Wirth of Eagle.
Also attending will be State Sen. Judy Emmons, 33rd District, who will bring information on the proposed new bridge to Canada and other matters of interest.
Republican Sandy Raines and Democrat Shane Jacobs will both be present as candidates for the Montcalm County drain commissioner position.
Montcalm County Sheriff Bill Barnwell will speak about the proposed law enforcement millage proposal, which will be on the Nov. 6 ballot.
Duane Miller, chief finance officer for Carson City Hospital, will be present to give his views on the financial aspect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and how it would affect the medical institutions and individuals. Dr. Ronald Steury of Sheridan Community Hospital also will present his views on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The tea party of the mid-Michigan area will be represented by Patricia Butts and Tina Dupont, who will present the tea party’s stand on various issues of interest to the voters of Michigan.
