SHORT TAKES: Fun, fall and football

This week, a number of area businesses got a chance to shine during the Greenville Expo at Greenville High School.

All different industries were represented including area restaurants, plumbing and heating, healthcare and banks. You could even test a mattress if you were in the market for one.

These kinds of events are important because they highlight the fact that you can keep your business local – no matter where you live in the county. Sure, there are times when it’s fun to go into the bigger cities and shop. But we have good deals and great service right here, too.

Unless you’ve been living in a vacuum, you’ve no doubt taken note of the amazing tapestry of color Mother Nature is providing us right now. The reds, yellows and oranges are take-your-breath away beautiful.

With the weather due to shift, make sure you soak in these fall colors before the weather blows them all away.

It’s a week away, but make sure you mark Friday, Oct. 12 on your calendar because it’s the last home Greenville varsity football game at Legacy Field for the year.

If you’re a Carson City-Crystal fan, you should plan on being in the stands at their game against Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart in Mount Pleasant tonight. They haven’t won a conference title since winning the Montcalm County Championship in 1962. But if they win tonight, they’d at the very least take home a share of the Mid-State Activities Conference South Division title.

If they win next week, they’ll win outright. Go Eagles!
