CARSON CITY — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The third annual Pink Ribbon Affair, sponsored by Blue Care Network, will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Atrium at Carson City Hospital.
All proceeds will go toward supporting patients. Local breast cancer survivors will be guests of honor at this event.
“The Pink Ribbon event is near and dear to my heart as a co-survivor, Carson Health employee and community member,” said Carson Health Patient Accounts Office Manager Jesse Akin. “Many of us have had or know of someone who has had cancer, and for me that was my mother, my best friend. It is important to provide support to someone affected by cancer and to bring awareness to the disease. We are able to do this with our loved ones and community members by coming together with events like these. This is an opportunity for all of us to connect. My mom is an amazing, courageous woman. Join us in a night of Pink, dedicated to my mother, your mother, all of the amazing women, daughters, sisters, sons, husbands and friends that have been affected by cancer.”
The Flat River Band will perform at this year’s event, including featured artist Laura Ruggles of the Stanton area.
Dr. Donna Moyer, chief radiologist for Carson Health, will serve as the night’s emcee.
The event will be catered by Up In Smoke, Muffin Top, Clifford Lake Inn, Rozena Harrison and Hearthstone. A chocolate fountain will be provided.
A raffle will take place for those who attend. The first place prize is a pink ribbon quilt, second place prize is a Kindle Fire and third place prize is a $100 gift card. A silent auction will also take place with prizes ranging from $10 to $1,100 in value. Participants need not be present to win.
Donations are still being accepted for the silent auction.
Tickets for the Pink Ribbon Affair are currently on sale for $5 each at Carson City Hospital.
