ANNISTON, Ala. —Kelly Frost, from Carson Health’s Maintenance & Security Department in Carson City, recently completed training offered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), in Anniston, Ala.

The CDP is operated by the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and is the only federally-chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training facility in the nation.

The CDP develops and delivers more than 50 advanced training courses focusing on incident management, mass casualty response, and emergency response to a catastrophic natural disaster or terrorist act for emergency response providers, emergency managers and other governmental officials from state, local and tribal governments. Training at the CDP campus is federally funded at no cost to the agency.

“I am able to bring information back not just to Carson Health but to the community as well from the training I received in Anniston with chemicals, biological agents, nuclear agents, and other hazardous material” Frost said. “The advanced hands-on training enables me to effectively prevent, respond to, and recover from real-world incidents involving acts of terrorism and other hazardous materials.”

“Having a member of our decontamination team participate in CDP training is critical,” said Matt Thompson, president of Carson Health. “The skills and confidence Kelly obtained from training to respond effectively is imperative for our organization.”
