GREENVILLE — This past spring and summer, as part of the Crown Council’s Smiles For Life campaign, John O’Donald D.D.S. offered teeth whitening services at a significantly reduced price and donated 100 percent of the proceeds to help children facing serious health and educational issues. This year, O’Donald and his staff raised $2,800.
This is the sixth year that half the funds raised, $1,400, were donated to Greenville Optimists Camp for People with Disabilities (formerly Greenville Optimists Camp Wah Wah Tay See). The camp, on Baldwin Lake in Greenville, is a summer camp serving adults and children who have received or are receiving special education services, regardless of age or ability to pay.
A check was recently presented to President John Van Nieuwenhuyzen and Vice President for Community Action Services Dan Petersen of EightCAP.
“EightCAP is grateful that generous community members like Dr. O’Donald recognize the profound impact that the Greenville Optimists Camp has on the lives of the campers and their families,” Petersen said. “The cost of the overnight camp experience is $250, so this will pave the way for nearly six individuals to attend camp in 2013. We hope that nearly 200 campers will be able to enjoy this experience and look forward to continuing to work with community members and the Greenville Optimists Club to make that happen.”
The Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation receives the other half of the proceeds for use in health, education and inner city programs that benefit children.
The Smiles For Life Foundation is the children’s charity organization of the Crown Council, an organization of leading-edge dentists throughout North America. Each year, for more than a four-month period, participating Crown Council dentists offer professional teeth whitening services at a considerably reduced price and donate the proceeds to children’s charities.
“My staff and I look forward each year to this charitable campaign and ultimately, helping one of our own, Greenville Optimists Camp,” O’Donald said.
