Howard City couple arrested after drunken altercation

HOWARD CITY — A 29-year-old Howard City woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting her live-in boyfriend by striking him in the face with a coffee mug.

Howard City police officers responded to the domestic assault in the 500 block of Joy Street in Howard City.

The injured 31-year-old Howard City man was treated at a hospital for facial injuries. He was then arrested for violating a “no contact” court order stemming from a prior arrest for domestic violence in Mecosta County. He also had another warrant out for his arrest in Mecosta County related to the prior domestic violence incident.

A loaded handgun was seized from the residence.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Both suspects are currently lodged in the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton, where they are awaiting arraignment.

Man charged with drunken hit and run in Howard City

A Morley man was arrested and charged after a drunken hit and run accident in Howard City last week. According to Howard City Police Chief Steve DeWitt, a 47-year-old man from Howard City contacted police shortly after midnight Oct. 19 and advised his vehicle had just been struck by another vehicle driving without headlights at the intersection of Ensley and Williams streets.

Howard City teens arrested for Memorial Day weekend break-in

Anthony Thomas Russell, 18, of Howard City, was arrested Monday in connection with a break-in that took place on Kendaville Road in Pierson Township over Memorial Day weekend. A 16-year-old Howard City youth also was arrested for his involvement in the same crime.

A Howard City husband and wife pleaded guilty to fraud charges Thursday in 8th Judicial Circuit Court. Nikolaus Warren, 21, and Marcia Warren, 20, were originally charged with 10 felony counts each involving the theft and use of a financial transaction device. The Warrens each pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of financial transaction device — stealing/retaining without consent (a possible four-year felony) and one count of financial transaction device — illegal sale or use (a possible four-year felony).
