Howard City couple arrested after drunken altercation
HOWARD CITY — A 29-year-old Howard City woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting her live-in boyfriend by striking him in the face with a coffee mug.
Howard City police officers responded to the domestic assault in the 500 block of Joy Street in Howard City.
The injured 31-year-old Howard City man was treated at a hospital for facial injuries. He was then arrested for violating a “no contact” court order stemming from a prior arrest for domestic violence in Mecosta County. He also had another warrant out for his arrest in Mecosta County related to the prior domestic violence incident.
A loaded handgun was seized from the residence.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor.
Both suspects are currently lodged in the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton, where they are awaiting arraignment.
