CARSON CITY — The Carson City Lions Club presented a check to Carson City-Crystal Area Schools totaling $3,571.37 at Monday night’s school board meeting.

The money was raised during the 38th annual Don Baese Cross Country Invitational in September. The Lions Club manages parking during the annual event and all proceeds raised will go toward renovating the high school track.

“A few years back we increased the parking fee to $5,” said School Board President Tom Wilcox. “That way we could use some of that money toward the loan that was used to renovate the track and redo the track in the football field area.”

Wilcox shared his appreciation of the Lions Club and members of the Lions Club.

“We definitely want to thank you all for the hard work the Lions Club members do during the invitational,” Wilcox said.

Superintendent Kevin Murphy shared the same sentiment.

“We do appreciate the financial commitment for our schools,” Murphy said. “Thank you very much.”

Lions Club member Russ Stanton said he was happy to help out.

“It is our pleasure,” Stanton said.
