SIDNEY — Montcalm Community College invites community members to celebrate the holidays during its 31st annual Santa’s Super Sunday on MCC’s campus in Sidney.
Participants may visit and have their photograph taken with Santa Claus, enjoy holiday music, swimming, clowning around with local clowns, children’s holiday crafts, story room and musical activities. Wagon rides through Heritage Village will be provided as well as hot cocoa and a short choral concert. Visitors also may register for a chance to win one of three vouchers to attend one of MCC’s youth summer camps for free or a scholarship for three free credit hours of tuition at the institution. Summer camps are for children in grades 3 through 8. Only those younger than age 18 are eligible to receive the scholarship. No prizes are transferable. All activities are free.
The event is Dec. 2 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and Santa is available until 4 p.m.
“This event was developed to serve our community and has come to be considered MCC’s holiday gift to the community,” said Susan Hatto, MCC’s dean of community outreach and Santa’s Super Sunday chairwoman. “MCC staff, students and faculty, as well as community volunteers and area businesses join in the festivities through their generous donations of time and resources. I hope everyone will join in this year’s festivities.”
More than 1,000 individuals, including more than 500 children, traditionally participate in Santa’s Super Sunday. The college and Montcalm Heritage Village members present the annual event, which is supported by donations from Montcalm County businesses. Donors include Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan, Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan Ladies Auxiliary, Heart of Michigan Clowns, Preferred Federal Credit Union, Chemical Bank, Tinney Automotive, Stanton Rotary Club and MCC’s Life Long Learners.
