IONIA — A woman delivered a $1,000 cash donation to Relief After Violent Encounter (RAVE) this week, illustrating again how the people of the community give to local organizations.

The woman asked for a signature verifying the donation had been delivered, produced exactly $1,000 and then left. Neither the identity of the messenger, nor the identity of the donor is known.

“Generous community members come out to support us, especially during the holidays,” said RAVE Executive Director Erin Roberts. “Today’s surprise donation is a wonderful gift that we are incredibly grateful for.”

RAVE is a comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault program serving Ionia and Montcalm counties. RAVE is the only shelter for women and children in the two counties. RAVE works to create a violence-free community, and all money raised goes directly to assist the community.

For more information about RAVE services, call (616) 527-3351 or the crisis line at 1-800-720-7233 or visit online.
