Fowler 51, CC-Crystal 44: The Eagles fell to former CMAC foe Fowler in the season-opener Tuesday night. Brann Schmitt had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Grant Gage added 10 for CC-Crystal. Quote: “They (Fowler) came out and pressed us early. We battled all night. They made free thows and held on to the lead.” — CC-Crystal coach Ryan Fritz. St. Louis 59, Vestaburg 37: The Wolverines also were beat in their season-opener Tuesday. DeWayne McKinney scored 14 points and had 13 rebounds in the loss. Portland 61, Belding 44: The Redskins lost the cross-county matchup with the Raiders Tuesday night, as Brendan Sutherland had 15 points and Garrett Strotheid added 12 for Belding. Lakeview 56, Montabella 45: The Wildcats won their second game of the season Tuesday night without head coach Corey Kohler, who didn’t attend for an unknown reason. Maddie Shurlow scored 18 for Lakeview, Andrea Henry added 12 and Megan Leach 10 in the win. The Mustangs scored were led by Taylor Smith and Sarah Miller with 19 points each. Krista Daws added six points. Records: Montabella is 1-1, Lakeview is 2-0. Next games: Montabella is at Coleman Friday, Lakeview is at home against Morley Stanwood Friday.
