GREENVILLE — Two juveniles were arrested Friday after allegedly breaking into Greenville vehicles.

Officers from the Greenville Department of Public Safety responded to two larceny from vehicle reports around 11 p.m. Thursday, both on N. Lafayette Street.

Later, around 12:40 a.m. Friday, an officer saw two subjects in the ally area in the 100 block of S. Lafayette Street. The subjects attempted to hide behind a parked vehicle when they saw the officer, but the officer observed their behavior and made contact with them.

Both subjects turned out to be juveniles, 16 and 14 years of age. Upon further investigation, the officer recovered some of the stolen items that were taken from the earlier larcenies. Both youths were arrested and released to their parents.

One youth was a Greenville resident while the other was from Kent County where he had been reported as a runaway with the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.

Juvenile petitions will be sought through the Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office on both youths for the larceny from vehicle offenses.
