Boys basketball

Belding 61, Grant 57: The Redskins got their first win of the season Tuesday night by beating the Tigers on the road. Belding got 19 points each from Brendan Zuver and Garrett Strothheide in the win. Record: 1-2. Next game: at CC-Crystal next Tuesday.

Butternut-Montabella postponed: The boys basketball game between the Butternut Homeschoolers and Mustangs Tuesday night was postponed due to the flu outbreak at Montabella. It was not clear if the game had been rescheduled. Next game: at Vestaburg Thursday.

 

Girls basketball

Greenville 46, Tri County 45: The Yellow Jackets escaped Howard City with a win over the Vikings Tuesday night when they hit a field goal with seven seconds left for the win. Leah Somerfield scored 14 points for Greenville, including 8-of-17 free throws. Nikota Howe added 12 to the win. Tri County got a team-high 13 from Kelsey Hackbardt. Records: Greenville is 4-0, Tri County is 3-2. Next games: Greenville is at Lowell Friday, Tri County is at Fruitport Friday.

Lakeview 61, Holton 37: The Wildcats earned its first CSAA win on the road Tuesday night with a win over the Red Devils. Megan Leach led the way for Lakeview with 13 points. Andrea Henry added 11 and Estelle Molitor 10 points. Records: 3-1, 1-1. Next game: at home Friday against Newaygo.
