GREENVILLE — The Grand Rapids Symphony performed in front of a capacity crowd Wednesday evening during the Holiday Pops concert at the Greenville Performing Arts Center at Greenville High School.

The 13th annual Grand Rapids Symphony Holiday Pops Concert is being presented by the Education Foundation of Greenville on Dec. 12. “Bringing the Grand Rapids Symphony to Greenville is so important to the Education Foundation for a couple of reasons,” said the Education Foundation of Greenville Co-Chairman Steve Day. “One, it brings us some name recognition each year and is a wonderful marketing tool for our foundation, and two, it helps to fund many of our teacher grants and student scholarships each and every year.” Tickets for the concert go on sale Monday at The Daily News office, located at 109 N. Lafayette St., in Greenville. Only cash and check will be accepted.

The Greenville High School Symphony Orchestra is one of 14 student groups to perform before a statewide audience of music professionals during the 2012 Michigan Music Conference. Of the 14 performers, eight ensembles and bands are selected each year to perform at the state music convention. Greenville High School band and orchestra director Susan Gould said the selection process to perform is “incredibly selective.”
