FAIRPLAINS TOWNSHIP — The Michigan State Police Lakeview Post is investigating a fleeing and eluding incident that occurred last Wednesday night near Greenville.

A trooper was notified by Montcalm County Central Dispatch of a vehicle being driven erratically by a female driver around 9:43 p.m. The trooper located and attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on westbound M-57 near Nevins Road.

The driver initially stopped, but then continued to drive and attempted to flee the trooper. The trooper was assisted by a Montcalm County sheriff’s deputy and they were able to stop the vehicle utilizing a rolling road block.

After the vehicle stopped, the officers approached the female who would not comply with the officer’s commands. She was secured by the officers. The female acted strangely and did not respond appropriately to Emergency Medical Services and law enforcement. She was transported by EMS to Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville for further evaluation.

The investigation is ongoing and will be reviewed by the Montcalm County Prosecutor’s Office.
