GREENVILLE — The high school basketball season is only a quarter of the way complete, but the Greenville Yellow Jackets already know who they will face in the postseason district tournament.
Both the girls and boys team will be facing familiar foes in Lowell and Northview.
The girls tournament — beginning on Feb. 25 — will take place at Forest Hills Northern. In addition to Greenville, competing teams include the host Huskies, Lowell, Forest Hills Central, Rockford and Northview.
The Yellow Jackets will face former O-K White rival Lowell Red Arrows in the first round of the Class A district tournament. Rockford will face Forest Hills Central in the other first round game.
Greenville just defeated Lowell Friday night 44-34 on the road. Should Greenville advance in the tournament they would face FH Northern on Feb. 27, with the district finals on March 1.
The boys tournament will take place at Lowell beginning on March 4. The same teams as the girls tournament will compete for the district title.
Greenville will face O-K Bronze rival Northview Wildcats on March 4 in the first round. Rockford and FH Northern will meet in the other first round game.
The Yellow Jackets will face the Wildcats twice during the regular season on Jan. 11 and Feb. 8.
The two teams met three times a year ago, including in the first round of the district tournament, which was won by the Wildcats. Greenville went 19-2 last year and both losses were to Northview.
Should Greenville advance, they would face FH Central in the semifinals on March 6, with the finals on March 8.
The girls regional tournament will be hosted by Northview beginning on March 5, while the boys regional tournament will be hosted by Cedar Springs beginning on March 11.
