Montcalm County woman killed in Grand Rapids murders-suicide

GREENVILLE — A funeral will be held in Greenville on Friday for a Montcalm County woman who lost her life in a tragic event Monday in Grand Rapids.

According to WZZM 13, Chelsea Magoon, 21, died from a gunshot wound in a vehicle parked at Arbor Circle near the corner of Ball Avenue and Leonard Street in a double homicide-suicide.

Quiana Phillips, 31, also died from a gunshot wound after the suspect, Marvin Duane Lockridge, 27, shot both women and then took his own life.

Magoon was born in Sheridan and baptized at the First Congregational Church in Greenville. She attended Vestaburg High School, graduating in 2009, and went on to graduate from a pharmaceutical technician program. She enjoyed hanging out with her friends, hunting and taking trips to the casino.

Surviving are her parents, Broc (Kris) Magoon, Wendy (Vince) Long; grandmothers; great-grandmothers; brothers; sisters; nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Magoon’s funeral will be 11 a.m Friday at First Congregational Church of Greenville with the Rev. Jerrold Jones officiating.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville.
