GREENVILLE — Greenville High School parents and students were informed today that school staff investigated a reported inappropriate Twitter post from a female student posted late Thursday night.
According to Assistant High School Principal Todd Oatley, students came forward this morning to inform administrators of the rumor. The Greenville Department of Public Safety was immediately called to the high school to evaluate the issue. Police were able to make contact with the student and her parents at their home.
“There was never a threat to do harm to anyone at Greenville High School,” Oatley said. “Unfortunately, the student used words that could easily be misconstrued as threatening to others and herself. We want to give credit to our students for reporting the issue to us and our local law enforcement for taking quick action. We truly have a great school family and supporting agencies in Greenville.”
