Chad Lincoln, of Lincoln Insurance Agency in Lakeview, represents the third generation of agents in this family-owned business started by his grandfather, Dallas Lincoln.

For three generations, Lincoln Insurance Agency in Lakeview has catered to the insurance needs of area residents.

Many of those insured with Lincoln have been clients since the business first opened its doors in 1983. That’s when Dallas Lincoln left the agency he had been with for 13 years and hung his own shingle as a State Farm representative. Shortly after that, Dallas’ son, Todd Lincoln, joined the team and the Lincoln Agency was officially born.

Though Dallas is now more or less retired, he still spends a little time at the agency when he’s not vacationing in Florida.

It was in 2004 that Todd’s son, Chad Lincoln, climbed aboard, officially making the agency a three-generation operation.

Whether Chad’s son, Mason, will go into the family business is anyone’s guess, but the family is hopeful.

“Mason’s not quite three years old,” Todd said. “But you gotta start them young. He’ll be our fourth generation.”

According to Todd, the Lincoln Agency, located on M-46 in Lakeview, fills a unique niche in Lakeview’s insurance market.

“Instead of trying to insure every home and auto in Lakeview, we worked the investment side of the house,” Todd said. “We handle annuity sales, long-term care and health insurance and life insurance. That’s our forte.”

Todd adds that, in the years since its inception, Lincoln Insurance has built up its name recognition in Lakeview and the area it serves, a 30-mile radius.

“This creates a lot of flexibility for those of us who work here,” Todd said. “We’ve been very fortunate in that we have a good, diverse staff.

There are protocols in place and everyone does what they’re supposed to do.”
Chad, who is mostly responsible for the company’s outside sales, said he enjoys working in the established, family business.

“I feel more of a personal connection with the business, as opposed to just getting up in the morning and going to work,” Chad said. “There’s a little extra pride involved in grabbing a client’s file and seeing they have been with us since the ‘80s.

“I think it goes a long way toward the relationships with our clients that when they call or stop in, they’re not just an account number or a policy number; everybody’s on a first-name basis.”

That personal service and connection to the community are the factors that will likely propel the Lincoln Agency forward for generations to come.
