HOWARD CITY — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash that took place at 10:17 a.m. Thursday.

According to the Howard City Police Department, a Freightliner semi truck, operated by a 57-year-old Cedar Springs man, was stopped at the southbound exit ramp from U.S. 131 at M-82. The driver attempted to enter the southbound expressway, crossing M-82 and ignoring the left or right turn only traffic sign.

The semi pulled into the path of a 1999 Ford Taurus driven by a 58-year-old Howard City woman. The truck collided with the passenger side of the semi truck.

The driver of the Taurus was taken by ambulance to Butterworth Hospital with complaints of back pain.

The driver of the semi was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene and M-82 was blocked to traffic for about an hour. Howard City police were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police.
