GREENVILLE — Reasonable prices and a variety of colorful fashions await shoppers in the newest clothing store in town.

Rainbow, located at 300 S. Greenville West Drive, fills the vacancy left by Fashion Bug in the shopping complex.

Rainbow moved into the old Fashion Bug location in Greenville after the company purchased around 130 of the former Fashion Bug building leases from Athena, a company that bought out the Fashion Bug brand.

“Rainbow has been very good to work with,” Rainbow store manager Kathy Graves said. “They offered former Fashion Bug employees positions in their Rainbow stores.”

The company will be opening a store in Grand Rapids in a few weeks and in Lansing later this month.

Rainbow started as a small neighborhood boutique in 1935 in New York. Today, it has more than 100 stores in 37 states.

“There is about 40 stores here in Michigan, mostly based in Detroit,” Graves said. “Rainbow is based in Brooklyn, New York and includes sister brands 579 and Marianne.”

Rainbow offers a wide assortment of clothing for juniors, plus sizes, and children. Rainbow also is bringing the very latest in new fashions and styles and their assortment is constantly changing, Graves said.

“Currently, we are featuring our wear now and spring clothing products for our shoppers,” she said. “When guests enter the store they can see we offer a variety of color and designs.

“It is really great clothing,” she added. “The variety of clothing we offer seems to be going over really well and the customers are pleased with our prices.”
People can find all sizes for those who have wide taste in fashion, according to Rainbow assistant manager Kinsey Christensen.

“Though we cater to juniors and younger, I believe our clothing fits people’s personalities of all ages,” Christensen said,.

“We offers some men’s cologne,” Christensen added.

Rainbow opened Feb. 9 and has received good reviews already.

“We know the kids in school are talking about us,” Graves said. “We have been hearing very positive reviews about our low prices on our trendy quality clothing.”

Rainbow is open Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
