Girls basketball

Greenville 47, Hastings 40: The Yellow Jackets outscored the Saxons 12-7 in the fourth quarter to help pull out the win on Tuesday at home. Leah Somerfield scored the first nine points of the final quarter and finished with a game-high 26 in the win. Nikota Howe added seven points and Britta Bernth five points. Quote: “Leah put us on her back tonight and Nikota gave us great minutes off the bench.” — Greenville coach Eric Nichols. Record: 14-3 (6-1). Next game: at Cedar Springs Friday.

Lakeview 54, Hesperia 12: The Wildcats cruised to an easy CSAA road win on Tuesday night. Andrea Henry scored a team-high 12 points in the win. Record: 11-5 (9-5). Next game: at home against Holton tonight.

Central Montcalm 47, Newaygo 43: The Hornets came out on top Tuesday at home in league play. Savannah Case led the Hornets with 11 points and seven rebounds. Kaden Everingham added nine points, while Michaela Crooks had five steals. Record: 4-11 (4-9). Next game: at home against Reed City Friday.

Boys basketball

CC-Crystal 64, Ashley 30: The Eagles defeated the Bears on Tuesday in MSAC play. Brann Schmitt led the way with 19 points. Hunter Clark added 10 point, Mitchell Schneider nine and Arron Haines eight points. Record: 9-6 (6-1). Next game: at Montabella Friday.

Hastings 59, Greenville 55: The Yellow Jackets couldn’t pull off the comeback on Tuesday despite a 25-21 fourth quarter advantage. Greg Krusniak led Greenville with 22 points, while Ryan Davis added 12 points. Davis drained four three-pointers. Record: 6-10. Next game: at Cedar Springs Friday.

Allendale 53, Belding 50: The Redskins could not hold off Allendale on Tuesday. Belding led by three points heading into the final quarter, but was outscored 15-9 in the fourth. Brenden Sutherland led the Redskins with 15 points, while Kole Hart added 14 points. Record: 3-13 (1-9). Next game: at Wyoming Friday.

Merrill 64, Montabella 47: The Mustangs had a rough night in non-league action Tuesday. Nate Jankowsky led the Mustangs with 14 point, while Brady Burggren added 10 points. Record: 2-10. Next game: at home against Carson City-Crystal Friday.

Grant 70, Tri County 40: Grant cruised in Lakes 8 play on Tuesday over the Vikings. Mitch Goerner led the Vikings with 13 points, while Cade Dailey added 10 points. Goerner also grabbed 10 rebounds, while Ryan McKeever had five rebounds. Record: 2-12. Next game: at Fremont tonight.
