There will be a little more than two dozen wrestlers from the area heading to the individual wrestling state finals after they qualified in the top four of their weight classes in the regional competitions Saturday.
Leading the local schools was Carson City-Crystal, who had seven qualify for a trip to the Palace in Auburn Hills March 1-2.
Taking the regional championships in their weight classes were Kenneth Dittenber in the 112-pound division and Dallas O’Green in the 119-pound division.
Garner Cusack was second at the 140-pound class, while Taylor Barkley (103 pounds), Dillan Decker (145) and Darren Decker (152) were each third. Lincoln Burnham (160) took fourth.
Montabella qualified six wrestlers. Mustangs who qualified for the Division 4 state finals were Logan Burns, who was second in the 160-pound class, Jonny Durham, who was second in the 171-pound division, and Tristan Viglianco, who was second in the 125-pound class. Taking thirds were Dalton Kuklewski (130), Zack Taubitz (140) and Dave Davidson (285).
Redskin Todd Haller (215) took second in his Division 3 qualifier, leading five Belding wrestlers to the finals. Jesse Scheidel (125) took third and fourths went to Nate Cooley (112), Michael Walker (189) and Neil McCully (189).
Greenville has four wrestlers in the Division 2 state finals, led by regional winner Mike Schmidt (112). Alec Ward (130) took second, while Kyle Reamer (140) and Dakota Sherrick (189) were each fourth in their weight class.
Central Montcalm, Lakeview and Tri County each had one wrestler get to the state finals in Division 3. Green Hornet Jesse Judge took third in the 189-pound division. Terry Grieser finished third in the 152-pound class and Tommy Gilbert took third in the 103-pound division.
