Vestaburg 75, Big Rapids Crossroads Charter Academy 31: The Wolverines outscored Crossroads Charter 23-10 in the second quarter for a mercy-rule win Wednesday night. Dewayne McKinney had 26 points and 20 rebounds for Vestaburg, and Mason Darmody added 26 more by hitting eight triples, just one away from the school record. Record: 5-10. Next game: at home against Ashley Friday.

Tri County 44, CC-Crystal 42: The Vikings outscored the Eagles 13-6 in the third quarter and then held off them off for a nonleague win on Wednesday. Mitch Goerner scored 20 points for the Vikings, while Cade Dailey added 16 points. Goerner also grabbed 10 rebounds. Record: 3-14. Next game: at home against Morley Stanwood on Tuesday.

Sparta 58, Belding 36: The Redskins were outscored 21-9 in the third quarter and lost to the Spartans Wednesday night in a game postponed from Tuesday. Nick Price and Kole Hart scored eight points each to lead Belding. Hart added eight rebounds. Records: 3-15 and 1-11. Next game: at Ionia Tuesday.

Wyoming Homeschoolers 73, Butternut Homeschoolers 72: Butternut came into the game shorthanded and lost by a point in the WMHSAA championship game Monday night when Wyoming’s AJ Lamb hit a basket at the buzzer. Josh Snyder led Butternut with 20, followed by David Crouse with 17, Caleb Wyman with 12 and Isaac Crouse with 11. Next game: at Mount Pleasant’s Morey Courts against the Owosso Homeschoolers Friday.

Girls basketball

Lakeview 46, White Cloud 29: The Wildcats had no problems with the Indians Wednesday night, taking the CSAA matchup. Estelle Molitor led Lakeview with 17 points and Andrea Henry added nine more. Records: 14-5 and 12-5. Next game: at home against Big Rapids Friday.

Central Montcalm 42, Holton 41: The Hornets earned a CSAA win on Thursday against Holton in a makeup game. Kaden Everingham led the Hornets with 17 points and had nine rebounds. Michaela Crooks added 14 points, while Savannah Case grabbed 10 rebounds and added seven points. Central Montcalm led 28-15 at halftime. Quote: “We came out strong and held the lead throughout the game.” — Hornets coach Kevin Everingham. Record: 6-12 (6-10). Next game: at Hesperia Friday.

Sparta 51, Belding 41: The Redskins were outscored 32-25 in the second half in a loss to O-K Blue rival Sparta on Wednesday. Greta Wilker led the Redskins with 11 points, while Monica Baylis and McKenzie Breimayer each had nine points. Brandy Gee led the Spartans with 14 points. Record: 9-11 (4-8). Next game: vs. Lakeview at Alma on Monday for districts.
