Boys basketball

Central Montcalm 52, Hesperia 36: The Green Hornets picked up a CSAA win Thursday night when they outscored the Panthers 31-16 in the second half. Scott Schalow led Central with 11 points while Joe McKeown led Hesperia with 13. Records: 3-14 and 3-13. Next game: at home against Holton Monday.

Big Rapids 69, Lakeview 34: The Cardinals remained undefeated with Thursday’s home win against the Wildcats. Lakeview, playing without leading scorer Shawn Lindsey (sick), went down quickly and could never recover. Brad Hamlin led the Wildcats with 10 points. John Zuluaga-Torres added seven points. Quote: “They jumped on us quickly. We didn’t adjust well to their defensive pressure and had too many turnovers.” — Wildcats coach Mike Schreiber. Record: 13-5 (12-5). Next game: at Fulton Thursday.

Girls basketball

Sacred Heart 28, Montabella 26: The Mustangs were outscored 11-2 in the final quarter, but almost won the game against the Fighting Irish, but Reilly Terwilliger canned a three-pointer at the buzzer for the win and a share of the MSAC title. Taylor Smith led Montabella with 10 points while Sarah Hansen had eight to lead Sacred Heart. Records: 10-7 and 6-4. Next game: at White Cloud for Class C districts against Morley Stanwood Monday.
