Equipment violation stop ends in meth bust

BLOOMER TOWNSHIP — Two Hubbardston men and Muir woman were arrested after a Michigan State Police (MSP) trooper found methamphetamine and methamphetamine components.

Trooper Hunter stopped the vehicle driven by Jason Reed, 35, of Hubbardston, on Feb. 16 for and equipment violation. Trooper searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine lab components.

After resisting arrest, Reed was searched and troopers located methamphetamine. He was lodged at the Montcalm County Jail and arraigned in the 64B District Court on methamphetamine charges and vehicle violations.

Saundi Champlin, 40, of Muir, was the passenger and was arrested for drug charges and a warrant.

She was also lodged at the jail and arraigned in the 64B District Court.A second passenger, a 48-year-old male from Hubbardston, was also arrested and awaiting arraignment.

Troopers were assisted by the Carson City Police Department and CMET.
