Boys basketball

Central Montcalm 56, Holton 45: The Green Hornets picked up a CSAA win over the Red Devils on Monday night in a make-up game. Lane Ledford had 18 points and Scott Schalow scored 12 for Central. Quote: “We ran a man-to-man press, moved our feet well. Our kids did a great job on offense.” — Central coach John Kearney. Records: 4-14 and 4-13. Next game: at Vestaburg tonight.

Tri County 57, Ravenna 42: The Vikings made up a postponed game with the Bulldogs and won Monday night. Cade Dailey led Tri County with 17 points. Mitch Goerner added 15 points, while Brandon Peterman finished with 12 points. Dailey also had six steals. Quote: “We played sound basketball on both ends of the floor, still too many turnovers, but we created a lot tonight as well. Offensively we did a nice job of adjusting to what Ravenna was playing and attacking the basket.” Tri County coach Chad Gould. Record: 4-14. Next game: at home against Morley Stanwood today.

Girls basketball

Morley Stanwood 63, Montabella 52: The Mustangs were eliminated frm the Class C district tournament at White Cloud by the defending Class C champions Monday night. Krista Daws led Montabella with 19 and Taylor Smith had 10. Quote: “The difference was defense. Normally, when we score 52 points, we win but not tonight.” — Montabella coach Terry Larsen. Record: 10-8. Next game: Montabella’s season is over.

Greenville 52, Lowell 37: The Yellow Jackets opened play at the Class A district tournament at Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern with a win over a former O-K White Conference opponent in the Red Arrows Monday night. Leah Somerfield had 27 points and 15 rebounds, while Kae Page added 10 points for Greenville. Greenville outscored thte Red Arrows in every quarter. Quote: “We were very good at the offensive end. We attacked the glass and I was happy to see we finished also.” — Greenville coach Eric Nichols. Record: 17-4. Next game: at Forest Hills Northern Wednesday.
