IONIA — On Thursday, the Central Michigan Enforcement Team (CMET) received information of a methamphetamine lab in the city of Ionia.
The information led to the authorization of a search warrant. Upon the execution of the search warrant at a residence on E. Main Street, four subjects and several methamphetamine labs were located in the residence.
One of the subjects was a 16-year-old minor. The methamphetamine labs located were all consistent with the “one pot” method. Clean up and disposal of the labs were handle by certified methamphetamine personnel.
Upon completion of the investigation at the residence four subjects were arrested and lodged at the Ionia County Jail with additional arrests and charges pending. The residence was previously condemned by the Ionia County Health department for lack of running water.
The subjects arrested and charged were Matthew Aaron Smith, a 23-year-old male from the state of Texas, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine; Cory Beebe, a 22-year-old male from Lyons, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine; Chelsea Bauer, a 22-year-old female from Carson City, charged with resisting and obstructing and operating/maintaining lab involving methamphetamine; and Adam Sears, a 22-year-old male from Ionia, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.
The case is open and under investigation. Due to the continued investigation no other information is being released at this time.
