OTISCO TOWNSHIP — Three cars in total were involved in an accident on M-91 this morning that sent passengers to Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville.
According to Sgt. William Hoskins of the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 7 a.m., a gray Doge Durango SUV was traveling northbound on M-91 between Fisk and Bricker roads while a Gray GMC Sierra Pickup Truck was traveling southbound.
Hoskins said one of the vehicles lost control, resulting in a two-car accident in front of Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
A third vehicle, a black Saturn, traveling northbound, pulled off the eastbound shoulder of the road behind the accident. A passenger from that vehicle was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It is not clear how that passenger was injured.
“One of the two vehicles lost control, resulting in the crash,” Hoskins said. “Everybody was transported to Spectrum Hospital in Greenville with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Hoskins could not confirm how many people were involved, but estimated three people were injured. Names are not being released at this time.
With the overnight snowfall, Hoskins attributed the likely cause of the accident to be due to slippery road conditions. He advised drivers to “slow down,” and use caution today when commuting away from home.
The Belding Fire Department and Life Emergency Medical Services assisted on scene.
