HOWARD CITY— A Howard City man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a juvenile, again.
Cole Spears, 25, was arrested last Thursday by Howard City police officers.
According to Howard City Police Chief Steve DeWitt, Spears was already on probation for previously sexually assaulting another juvenile in 2011 in Mecosta County. That incident involved a pre-teen female victim. Spears was convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in that case.
The most recent assault took place last September in Howard City and involved a female teenager. The incident was not reported until January of this year.
Spears was arraigned Monday and charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is currently lodged in the Montcalm County Jail in Stanton.
Police are seeking additional possible witnesses to speak with.
“Parents who are aware of their children having contact with the suspect should sit down and speak to their children about any other incidents due to the repeat alleged offense and similar nature of the assaults in both cases,” DeWitt said.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Howard City Police Department at (231) 937-4311.
