CARSON CITY — A series of community forums has been scheduled for community members in the Carson City-Crystal Area Schools district.
According to Superintendent Kevin Murphy, the first forums are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, at The Celtic Path in Hubbardston and 6 p.m. the same day at Carson City Public Library.
Additional forums are scheduled for 7 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Kozy Inn in Carson City and 5:30 p.m. the same day at Crystal Township Hall.
The purpose of the meeting will be to engage the public and community about the current direction of CC-C schools.
“The two evening ones will be more of an open forum,” Murphy said. “The earlier ones will be a community time where I can get some one-on-one time with those wanting to talk.”
Murphy wants members of the community to come out and have a good discussion about possibly arming faculty and staff or accepting a deal offered by the Carson City Police Department earlier this year.
“School safety is definitely one of the topics I would like to get more input on,” Murphy said. “I also would like to talk about possible future bonds too.”
The community forums will not be structured — they will consist of open discussion and citizens should attend ready to talk about any topic they feel is important.
“Certainly I am here to listen and welcome a positive discussion on the school safety and future bonds,” Murphy said. “It will be open and not structured, so please come out and discuss our school district’s future.”
