EDMORE — Two banks were robbed in two weeks within a hundred-mile radius.

Authorities now believe the same man robbed both facilities.

The Chemical Bank in Edmore was robbed around 10:40 a.m. Saturday, March 30.

The PNC Bank in Galesburg, about 100 miles south of Edmore, was robbed around 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 12.

In both robberies, the man showed a note to the teller, implying that he had a gun and asking for money. Both times, the man left the facility with an undisclosed amount of money.

In both instances, the white male suspect brazenly walked into each bank without any sort of disguise. He is described as being about 5 foot 6 inches to 6 feet tall, between 160 to 175 pounds with grayish hair. He was wearing dark-colored clothing and sunglasses at both banks. He also wore a red baseball cap at the Galesburg bank.

“It does appear to be the same individual,” said Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Pali Matyas. “We’re in conversation with Montcalm County. We’re following up on the leads we have and comparing them to the leads Montcalm County has received.”

Montcalm County Sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Tom Goerge said tips continue to come in about the Edmore bank robbery.

“I have seen the video footage from Galesburg and I would agree that our photographs and their photographs are extremely similar,” Goerge said. “We’ve been in contact with the FBI. The FBI is assisting on both cases.”

Anyone with information about the bank robberies is asked to call Montcalm County Central Dispatch at (989) 831-5253 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
