GRAND RAPIDS — The Greenville Yellow Jackets track teams are off and running, finally.
Both the girls and boys teams earned victories in their first meets on Tuesday at Northview High School. The girls defeated the Wildcats 117-20, while the boys picked up a conference win 93-44.
The girls finished in first place in all but two events.
Taylor Baker led the way with three individual wins. Baker placed first in the long jump (15-11 1/2), 100-meter dash (12.96) and the 200 dash (26.42).
Leah Somerfield also won three events. Somerfield won the discus (87-8 3/4), shot put (33-8) and the high jump (4-8). Somerfield tied with Taylor Christensen in the high jump.
Audrey Wyse took first in the pole vault (9-6) and the 300 hurdles (47.49). Madison Sorsen placed first in the 800 run (2:47) and the 1,600 run (6:12). Christensen also won the 100 dash (12.96).
The girls relay teams swept the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 events, as well.
Jesse Muniz led the boys teams with three first place finishes. Muniz won the pole vault (10-0), 110 hurdles (11.65) and the 300 hurdles (45.93).
Greg Krusniak had two individual first place finishes. Krusniak won the shot put (42-6) and discus (122-0).
Jake O-Herron won the high jump (5-4), Carter Stephens the 100 dash (11.65) and Kyle Swindell the 400 dash (55.67).
The Yellow Jackets also won all three relay events.
Both the boys and girls teams will be back in action on Tuesday as they host Cedar Springs in an O-K Bronze meet.
