BLOOMER TOWNSHIP — Three people were injured and a horse died at the scene of a pickup truck vs. Amish buggy accident on Sunday in Bloomer Township near Carson City.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post responded to the accident at 2:25 p.m. on M-57 near Sloan Road.

A pickup truck was westbound on M-57 when it rear-ended an Amish buggy that was also traveling westbound. The collision caused the pickup truck to roll over three people in the buggy to be thrown from the buggy.

According to police investigation, it appears the male driver of the pickup truck had taken his eyes off the roadway, which caused the collision.

The three people thrown from the buggy were taken by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services to Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville.

The investigation into the accident continues.
