SHERIDAN — A 37-year-old Carson City man and recently terminated employee of Wrights Plastic Products was arrested Sunday after breaking into the business of his former employer in Sheridan.

At 1:17 a.m. Sunday an alarm call at 301 East Condensery road was received by Montcalm County Central Dispatch.

Deputies Charles Mahar and Kevin Germain of the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene where they found an unsecured overhead door.

Upon searching the interior of the building the deputies came upon a man attempting to pry open the change machine in the break room.

The man fled through the building and headed to a wooded area north of the business.

The pursuit continued on foot until a taser was deployed, striking the man, allowing the deputies to take him into custody.

The man was treated by staff with the Montcalm County EMS as standard protocol after a taser strike and he was lodged in the Montcalm County Jail a short time later.

The K9 team with the Sheriff’s Office was called in to do a thorough search of the business and surrounding area to ensure there were no additional offenders.

The suspect is being held with no bond awaiting arraignment on charges of breaking and entering as well as possession of burglary tools.
