Alley T recently moved three doors down from its previous location in Carson City. The new address is 110 Main St.

CARSON CITY — Sometimes, even a small move can be a good thing. When Janet Strong, owner of Alley T in Carson City, learned the building she had been leasing at 115 Main St. was being sold and she would have to relocate her business, she didn’t have to look any farther than three doors down.

As it turned out, the property at 110 Main St. had just been renovated and the owner was searching for a new tenant to fill the space.

“I knew the people who bought (the building) and had renovated it inside,” Strong said. “So we got it. It’s a really good spot.”

Alley T manager Jenny Collar, left, and store owner, Janet Strong, say business has actually picked up a bit since the move to new quarters.

The Carson City location is one of two stores Strong runs with her daughter and business partner, Jenna Strong; the other is located in Ithaca.

Both locations specialize in “school spirit” and company apparel with a wide range of products that can be imprinted with company logos, school mascots and so on.

Alley T is much more than a silk-screen and T-shirt store, however.

“We do custom screen printing and embroidery and all that stuff,” Strong said. “But we also can handle large promotional projects and we have a line of clothing and a large women’s boutique with purses, bags and things of that nature.”

The store also offers lots of ready-to-wear clothing options including sweatshirts, T-shirts, jerseys, cardigans, jackets and even pants. For those who prefer to do their shopping online, Alley T maintains an online catalog featuring most of the merchandise offered in the brick and mortar stores.

According to Jenny Collar, who manages the Carson City store, business has continued to be steady throughout the move to the new location.

“We moved just over a week ago,” Strong said.

The store is open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Strong said she may soon open the stores on Mondays as well, once a new tanning room has been added at the location.
