CRYSTAL — Nice weather was well appreciated Saturday night at Crystal Motor Speedway with a large contingent of cars and fans on hand to welcome the first decent race night of the year. The evening’s event was sponsored by H&H Excavating of Carson City.
The USA PRW Engine Pro IMCA Modified event was a battle between two former division champions with Joe Fowler eventually going home the winner over Chad Wernette, Greg Wiles, Josh Borton, Chad Maurer, Paul Grosnickle, Rusty Zeigler, Garrett Wiles, John Row, and Tim Tuttle. Travis Fisher and Brody Bowser grabbed B Main wins with heats falling to John DeYoung Jr, Tim Lytle, and Glen Moon.
Carl Ries jumped to the early lead and never looked back as he won the Kentucky Fried Chicken Late Model Main feature over Zack Olger, Tom Dusen, Kris Patterson, Jr., Dan DeLong, Joshua Knoll, Scott Baker, Sam Epling, Ryan VanderVeen, and Scott Nieman. Mike Fountain advanced to the main feature by winning the B Main with heats falling to Baker, Olger, and Patterson, Jr.
The last time Don Rohn took the field in the Port City Racing Pro Stock feature was back in September and he chalked up the win that night. He continued that streak with a win Saturday night over Jeramie Raby, Vern Buskirk, Jacob Headley, Barry Rinard, Josh Loomis, Blake Hollenbeck, Derek Schestag, Cody Cavagnaro, and Jay McClain. Buskirk and Raby took heats in earlier competition.
The Engine Pro Pro Truck event saw veteran racer Brad Roberts hold off a tough field of trucks to win over Dave Peters, Mike Seaman, Nate Jones, Tim Wood, Chris DeCamp, Gary Dancer, Ryan Paradise, Richard Melton, and Mike VanderMark, Jr. Roberts and Jones claimed heat gold.
The Street Stock feature event saw a good fight between Doug Helsel and Chris Wiggins with Wiggins taking the event over Helsel, Dennis Parker, Joel Field, Brenten DeYoung, Derek Crandall, Andrew Fidler, Brooke Ann Brasington, George Wease, and Kyle Prochazka. Prochazka and Wiggins also triumphed in the heat events.
After a good run last week, Joe Eller came back to win the Races On The Web Flinn Stock feature over Jaycee Baker, Tyson Minier, Chuck Shaw, Chris Brown, Felicia Rohn, Kevin Rohn, Jr., Jeff Dygert, Melinda Pickard, and Travis DeWitt. Baker and DeWitt took heat wins.
Next week at Crystal Motor Speedway is another full show of all six regular divisions. Pit gates open at 4PM with the main grandstands opening at 5PM. Adults are $10 and kids 5 to 11 are $5.
