GREENVILLE — A 24-year-old Greenville man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly driving under the influence and eluding police.

Greenville Department of Public Safety Interim Director Michael Stuck said the department received a call of a truck driving erratically after entering Greenville’s city limits.

Officers located the truck driving near the intersection of Van Deinse and Vining streets at about 11:39 p.m.

“(The driver) didn’t stop,” Stuck said. “He then drove into a field.”

Stuck said officers did not follow the truck into the field, but later found the driver walking along the roadway.

The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, driving while licenses suspended and fleeing and eluding police.

Stuck said a blood alcohol test was given to the driver, but the department has not yet received the results.
