Lakeview drops two: The Wildcats lost twice to CSAA rival Newaygo on Monday in a makeup doubleheader at home. Lakeview lost game one 10-0 in five innings. Kyler Ridgeway suffered the loss. He pitched all five innings, allowing 10 runs, five earned on six hits, four strikeouts and six walks. Brad Hamlin went 2-for-2, while Ridgeway, Calvin Englund, Joey Cole and Jordan Stephens each had one hit. Game two was 12-8 in favor of the Lions. Hamlin took the loss, working two innings, allowing six runs on four hits, four strikeouts and three walks. Jordan Stephens had three hits, one run and an RBI. Butternut 1st: Butternut hosted a triangular match on Monday against the only other homeschool golf teams in the state this year. Butternut shot 315 to defeat Traverse City Homeschoolers (391) and Grand Rapids (542), a new program. Sophomore Isaiah Wyman led the way with a 75. Caleb Wyman shot 77, David Crouse 78 and Isaac Crouse 85. Quote: “Isaiah played very consistent today and Caleb is starting to play better. Lakeview 1st: The Wildcats placed first at Montabella on Monday with a round of 185. Providence Christian shot 212, Montabella 213 and Hesperia 230. Jon Wandel led the way with 41, Kameron Gilbert 46, Seth Kanouse and Benett Tomandl 49. Quote: “This was nice bounce back effort after a tough outing on Saturday. Sleet shoots 87: Central Montcalm competed in the Big Rapids invitational on Monday at Tullymore Golf Club. The Hornets didn’t have enough golfers to qualify for a position, but was led by Tyler Sleet with an 87. Josh Mitchell added a 98 and Shawn Matice 110. Comstock Park won the tournament with 308, while Lansing Catholic’s Brent Marshall was match medalist with a 73. Muskegon Mona Shores was second with 309 and St. Johns third with 325.
