GREENVILLE — A brief special board of education meeting was held by Greenville Public Schools Wednesday to appoint an election representative and give a quick update on the school’s budget.

During the meeting, the Greenville Public Schools Board of Education appointed Treasurer James VanderLaan as its representative to cast the board’s vote to elect two candidates to the vacancies on the Montcalm Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) Board of Education.

Vice President Norice Rasmussen was chosen as the alternate.

The Greenville Public Schools Board of Education decided to cast their vote for Steve Foster and Mark Christensen, who will each serve a six-year term.

The vote will take place on Monday at the MAISD building in Stanton.

Also during Wednesday’s meeting, Finance Director John Gilchrist said a public hearing for the school’s budge will take place at the next board of education meeting on June 10.

During that meeting, the board will vote on another special meeting to be held later in June to vote on the budget.

Gilchrist said the budget has to be accepted by June 30.
