GREENVILLE — Driving a car or truck, especially on country back roads, can be a dusty, muddy business. But that’s no excuse to not arrive in style. Thanks to Extreme Auto & Watercraft Detailing, which officially reopened under new management in March, local car owners have a place to clean up their rides.

Located at 111 N. Lafayette St. in Greenville, Extreme Auto & Watercraft Detailing offers a full line of automotive detailing services for both your vehicle’s interior and exterior.

Rob Miller, who, together with his wife and partner, Christa Miller, purchased the business from its previous owner, says that there’s really no job the shop can’t handle.

“We do all the inside details,” Miller said. “We shampoo the carpets, use cleaners and conditioners on leather seats, spray and clean the air vents and get all the dust out of there. Then we Armorall all the plastic and remove all the stains and odors on the inside.”

As far as exterior work goes, Extreme Auto & Watercraft Detailing has the capability to wash, polish, wax and buff all auto and marine finishes, and clean rims and tires. The shop can also handle engine degreasing and polishing jobs.

Miller got into the car detailing business through a friend of his wife’s, who previously owned the business. He started out working at the shop just helping out and wound up buying the business when the friend moved on to other things.

“I came on as a partner, then when he wanted out I offered to buy the place,” Miller said. “I’ve always been into cars and stuff ever since I was, like, 13. I used to build hot rods, so I know cars.”

Business has been a little slow the past few weeks, Miller added, which he attributes to the cold and rainy weather. For the most part, however, the business has been “keeping its head above water.”

Miller said he understands that any new business takes a while to become established and he’s willing to put in the time and effort it will likely take to get his off the ground.

Prices for detailing are more than competitive, he added, noting that a full interior detailing job starts at just $65.

“We also do packages on our full interior and exterior detailing,” Miller said. “It’s cheaper for people to go that route.”

Extreme Auto & Watercraft Detailing is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays by appointment. For more information or to schedule a job, call (616) 433-9494.
