2 walk away with minor injuries after Belding rollover accident

A driver and passenger were treated for bumps and bruises after their vehicle rolled several times into a ditch on Storey Road (M-91) in front of Save A Lot in Otisco Township on Thursday evening. — Daily News/Cory Smith

OTISCO TOWNSHIP — A driver and passenger escaped with bumps and bruises Thursday evening after the vehicle they were riding in rolled several times before landing upside down in a ditch on Storey Road (M-91) near Save A Lot in Otisco Township.

According to Sgt. Michael Seinen of the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, the male driver,of Rockford was driving southbound on M-91 in a silver Chevy Trailblazer at approximately 5:01 p.m. when he failed to notice a vehicle stopped further down the road waiting to turn.

He then swerved, crossed the center line, and rolled several times into the ditch on the east shoulder of the road in front of the store at 7441 Storey road.

Both the driver and the other male passenger of Grandville were treated and released at the scene by Life EMS with “bumps and bruises.”

The driver was cited with failing to keep the vehicle under control.

Both the driver and passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The Belding Fire Department and Belding Police Department assisted on scene.
