STANTON — A 21-year-old Sheridan man was arraigned Tuesday and charged with larceny in connection with an alleged robbery attempt.
According to Lt. Brian Waber of the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office, Alexander James Johnston road a minibike to a residence on the 3000 block of East Condesery Road just before noon on Tuesday and allegedly attempted to open the side door to the home.
Johnston was unable to gain entry to the home, but he did allegedly go into the garage to steal gasoline from a can to fill up his minibike. Johnston then fled the scene and was quickly apprehended by sheriff’s deputies. Two teenage girls were home at the time of the break-in attempt. They were not harmed during the incident.
Johnston remains in jail on a $2,000 cash bond. He also has a parole detainer as a result of his recent alleged actions.
