5 injured in Greenville crash

EUREKA TOWNSHIP — Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Eureka Township on Wednesday evening.

The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident at 8:48 p.m. at the intersection of S. Greenville Road and Baker Road.

Through the investigation, it was determined a 2011 Honda Accord driven by Charles Kemp of Big Rapids was traveling west on Baker Road when Kemp failed to stop for the stop sign at S. Greenville Road.

Kemp struck a southbound 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Brett Headworth of Orleans. The collision caused the Equinox to leave the roadway and overturn into a nearby yard.

There were two female passengers in the Headworth’s vehicle that were transported by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services. One was taken to Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville with a laceration injury and one to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids with a possible leg fracture.

Headworth and another male in his vehicle and Kemp sustained minor injuries and did not require treatment.

A 2-year-old boy in Headworth’s vehicle was not injured.

Kemp was cited for disregarding a stop sign. Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services and the Greenville Department of Public Safety.
